The Evolutionary Trade Off

As our society becomes more technology dependent we are forced to rely on those who provide equipment and services in order to manage our day to day operations.  Increasingly, the massive titans of communication, cable, power, transportation, home automation, etc. have outsourced “customer service” to foreign lands. Our “outsourced” lives where nobody is allowed to know names, places, supervisors, chains of command, corporate management or any points of contact whatsoever leaves us with a complete lack of accountability. The simple fact that “they” record conversations but we have not a facility/app to do the same leaves us a day late and a dollar short. If we are to begin taking back control of our lives we must find ways to bring accountability to the providers of our lifestyles.

Companies offering on-shored customer service, American made products and American managed servicing could begin to give us back our choices and our sanity. A recording app to activate upon a simple voice command to keep record of the ridiculous guarantees and promises leading us continuously astray would be advantageous.Moving out of the urban meccas to rural communities where people know their children’s teachers and principals, where the postal workers know your family and your address, where the grocery is owned by the town fire chief, etc. would be a relief.

Urban crunch has become such a toxic macrocosm where complete anonymity and lack of care about community continues to degrade our quality of life. If we continue to sacrifice control of our lives and our privacy, we shall continue to see our society unravel. The insidious trade off, giving up accountability and peace of mind for convenience and price point must reach a event horizon soon or prisoners of our own demise we shall become.
